our outreach ministries

We believe that is our moral imperative to listen, learn, and act to help bend the arc of justice toward God’s vision of love, wholeness, peace, and justice for all of God’s children.

Our Social Justice Committee takes a central role in leading our pursuit of these goals.  We monitor current events for issues that warrant a response, such as peaceful protests, media releases, letters to politicians, and collaborations with other groups, e.g.:

  • With Christ Episcopal, we display billboards on social justice issues such as Black Lives Matter, LGBTQI Pride Month, and voting rights.
  • We raise awarenes of environmental issues such as carbon footprint, electric cars and recycling.
  • We lead social justice reflections for our community.
  • We lobby our elected officials on important issues, e.g., gun control, death penalty, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental justice, and confirming Supreme Court justices.

We respect the right of our members to express their individual opinions regardless of a discerned response from the Social Justice Committee or the community.

Our Community Outreach Committee leads efforts to help people in need. We have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together Dayton. We furnish household essentials for first-time homeowners and tenants and clothing for the needy.

Our Member Support Committee assist LBC members who are experiencing personal or financial crises.
