We allocate 20% of our collections for tithing (donations) to social justice causes. Members are invited to nominate charitable, justice-oriented, and philanthropic organizations to be the recipients of our tithes.
Every three months, our Social Justice Committee meets to vet the nominated organizations, evaluating them in the context of community priorities, urgency of need, past relationships, and other factors. They then usually select two for funding--one local and one that serves a wider regional, national or international area. To nominate an organization, complete a hardcopy form at the church.
